Money Saving Ideas?
#21
The sun might melt it off.
It does actually fling off a little when I first ride after a re-lube but only a few very small little blobs found here and there
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

When you go for the first ride after applying it obviously some sprays off but the majority stays on. I'm sure when you take your sprocket cover off it's got an inch thick of chain lube? So that sprays off too. Plus with the wax I think you end up with a lot more dirty stuck in the chain whereas cleaning and lubing with the oil regularly gets rid of more of the dirt. I'm not saying the oil is better for the chain just that it works and costs nothing

Ultimately I suppose all that matters is that you do lube your chain, it doesn't seem to matter with what or how - so long as you do.
But as this is a save money thread then engine oil it is then, but as you are using old stuff how much "goodness" is left in the oil

The Yamaha workshop manual says "Recommended lubricant Engine oil or chain lubricant suitable for O-ring chains" so it works. You should use fresh oil as it has no contaminants in it but the way I see it is the old stuff was protecting the engine just before it was drained out so I think it's good enough to lube a chain.

I agree, it's not worth a foc if you're a Waxer or an Oiler as long as it's well lubed.
These Fazers are cleaner than the neighbourhood cats a$$hole- and he licks and polishes it all day. A credit to allĀ  :thumbup
Treat everything in life the way a dog would- if you can't eat it or foc it, forget it.
