I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but here goes. I have a 09 FZ1N, new tyres, right pressure, dropped the forks 10mm. I have trouble with the bike turning it it wont just drop in, any ideas?

When you say "dropped"  the forks I take it you mean raised?  Dropping them 10mm would raise the front.

yep raised them, also have 55's on the rear tyre

Basics OK?  Front/rear sag, ride height where it should be, if it's not been lowered or owt basically if in doubt return to std settings and go from there, it might not be perfect for you but it will be there abouts

there are so many variables to get a bike to handle, it's not something you can easily diagnose on the internet. but generally the higher the rear and the lower the front  the faster she'll tip in.
The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money!

Isn't the slow turn in partly, but significantly due to the very wide rear. I'm almost tempted to try a 180 section on the rear to see if it makes it turn in a little quicker.

Im with you on that pillingas....my woes with my fz1 are well documented & of course ill get a ribbing now for being a fanny but i think you could be onto something......combined with the weight i think it makes you doubt the bike at times & youve really gotta hustle it at times.......im much happier on my trx modded with a 180 rear it is so flickable........ok it wheezes out i could do with more hp.......but it corners quicker on most b roads...........on larger sweeping well surfaced a roads the fz1 excels itself as imo turn in speed is less relevant even at quite decent speeds.

It isn't slow enough to annoy. I've hussled mine through over a hundred mountain passes (literally), but like most bikes with a 190 section rear, it can be harder to get over on it's side than bikes with narrower rears. To some extent the steep rake at the front makes up for it, but probably not enough.

Plenty of bikes of similar power output 'make do' with 180, so I guess Yamaha went with 190 in the interests of aesthetic.
