I've found 7th gear on the Fazer a couple of times but most of the time it isn't there. There must be something in the gearbox design that only makes it available in some secret special circumstances
I got this one from ebay years ago, it's driven from a set of contacts on a plastic bung fitted in place of the original neutral switch. I have found it really useful when I've been pottering round town and then need to nail it as I hit the open road. And, of course, it's blue, mmmmm blue!

If I remember from seeing this before I believe it is a DIY addition - sort of smoked perspex that the led sits behind and shows through. ( nice job )
See what he says
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

Is the rounded front plate a DIY work or came with the display?

It came with it. Simple piece of smoked Perspex glued to the front of the display. It fits the clock curves well and dims the display nicely too. Display is on a bracket bolted to the back of the clocks. Electronics to drive the display are in a box about 1/2 the size of a Golden Virginia tin.
Sorry for the slow reply, I was in France (Cognac) ragging the Fazer senseless on empty D roads!
I'll post a pic of the sensor soon as I need to remove it to replace the O ring since it's weeping. Guess I should do the introduction post too..
