Hi everyone! After 10 years on Hondas, '98 Blade and a "yawn" brief current spell on a '08 CBF1000ABS, ive decided that I need to return to my roots and get a Fazer 1000. I used to be a Yam man, DT50, RS125, YPVS350N1, FZ750, FZR600, FZR1000, TDM850 etc, but after being seduced by the quality of the streetfightered Blade I lost my way. Ive had the CBF for about 8 months and am bored to death with it, you never get off it thinking "that was great!" Its not that its a bad bike, its bloody wonderful as a long distance transport system, but its just not for me. So, as I cant buy a Honda Fazer 1000 or a Honda TDM850, I'm back to Yamaha. I don't really know a lot about the different Generations of the 1000 (ive tried the search function but not had much luck finding a definitive explanation) so any pointers would be appreciated. I reckon a 2003 model with as many upgrades to the suspension as I can afford, unless you lot know different! See you all in the forums!!

High Billy.

welcome over here.  if 2003 is your bracket then indeed it is the FZS1000 Fazer, as you say =ready loaded with mods, and most importantly "ivanised! , engine tuned that is.
Should always be some up for grabs. Some even with upside down forks"R1" conversions
An ageing test pilot for home grown widgets that may fail at anytime.

Hi fella, welcome.

Had a few of those myself: YPVS 350 (2, sort of  :lol ), FZ750, FZR1000, and now on my 4th FZS1000. The Yams have generally been my favourites down the years.

If you want an FZS1000, you could do a lot worse than this one:

Ivanising (I recommend full monty), R6 rear shock, R1 front forks will see that you don't lack for much, but a good bike as standard too.

2001 to 2005 are essentially the same bike, the carburetted original thou (FZS). FZ1 is the later FI bike, very different, more sporty out of the crate, but less of an all-rounder.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Working on the CBF tomorrow to get it ready for sale, hopefully it should be gone by the end of the month and I can start the search with money in my pocket.
