Hi guys.Hope you can settle this for me.If the final drive chain length on a bike is specified as being 96 links,do you count the number of rivet pins to get the 96 figure?.Many thanks.YFF.

count the number of rollers is what it says on another site? if its odd you need a cranked link.
Thanks for the info chaz.I bought a length of chain today from off a huge coil for my old Kawa trail bike,using the pitch & link number spec from the service manual.Got home & thought i'd bought half a chain :lol.Was thinking only the outers count as links :rolleyes(was too dark to go out to the shed & check it against the old 1).

The answer seems obvious now :rolleyes.You count the inner roller link in addition to the outer pin link (the part I allways think of as 'The Link') don't you.eg 48 roller links + 48 pin links=a 96 link chain.

Mark any outer link plate with something ,paint pen ,chalk etc then count all the outer plates and double it simples

I know nit picking
