Balancing throttle bodies.
#1
I was thinking that maybe in the winter when I tend to give my bikes a good service that I should balance the throttle bodies on my FZ1 which leads me to a few questions.
Is it necessary?
Will I see/feel any difference in  smoothness or performance?
How easy/hard is it to do?
Can I use my old carb balancers to do it or do I need something else?

I done mine on my R1 5PW ( first fuel injection R1), i used my old Davida gauges , well worth doing much smoother and just as easy to do as carbs, you may need some smaller tube/ adapters as the hose is quite small ( well on my R1 it is)  :lol

Yes, it is necessary.
Yes, you will feel a difference. A bif difference if it was out of true.
No it is not difficult (if you have done it once or twice before).
Yes you can use your existing carb balancers (if you have the right adaptors).

The only thing I found trickey the first time I did this was finding the adjusting screws. I suggest you buy a long reach cross head screwdriver (such as http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Long-Reach-PH2-x-...43cb8980f5) before you start and be patient.

If you don't already have it, I would suggest you get the Haynes manual and read through what is involved and then ask here if there is anything you are still not clear on.

Ok, thanks for the info guys. I already have a really long crosshead screwdriver bought when I  first started balancing carbs on my bikes, comes in very useful.
