Happens quite a lot with outriders, it's a very risky job. We had two up here nearly killed in crashes a few years ago, and they were both the fault of the public. Hence why they're not used here anymore
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

I was of the same opinion and felt quite bad for the minicab driver-
However, I got this link from a good friend who's a traffic sergeant (on motorbikes) and his reply was-
' for leading bike in the convoy protecting royalty why was he not at that junction blocking it off before hand!?'
As far as he's concerned the rider fucked up!
The princes driver believed it was part of an ied attack hence speeding away

Another newspaper had a witness reporting them travelling around the wrong way of a roundabout at high speed beforehand.
Doesn't matter who you are, you can't expect to just speed down the middle of the wrong side of the road without caution.
And the picture tells you exactly where he was in the road as well.
I've been stopped by these police quite a few times for the Queen to pass through because i work near RAF Northolt where she gets her plane from, and they do not hang about at all.
The Queens car basically stays at the same constant speed and very rarely needs to stop.
