Can I borrow some carb balancing gauges?
#21
When I did mine, I borrowed a carbtune, thought all was going well but then got a bit suspicious about their accuracy, so I would expand on what Savvy has said and what ever type they are check them first by commoning the channels together and running them off 1 cylinder

As I said on the other post  :  check your tool before using it  :lol

Saturday is good for me, but only if you can come to my place in Luton. My wife is on call, and if she had to go out I will be in charge of the kids,  so can't travel anywhere.

They'll be space on the drive and a well stocked tool kit, including a 25cm No2 screwdriver.

Let me know if you're OK with this and I can PM my address and phone number.

It's a lot of noise - engines running and revving every 5 seconds, so on a driveway outside a house with kids in a suburban area is maybe not ideal?

Adam it was delightful to meet you too :kiss If you check the accuracy of the gauges then that'll be a fair swap :thumbup

ps now that you have a set you should create a new thread in Events to et a date  Confusedmash (or I could move this one if you prefer?)

It's either that or the angle grinder on my car, which is the other job for the day.  I'm very popular in my area  Wink

That answers that question, I wasn't sure whether I should call you punk or stig.  :rollin

I guess I'll be reading up on using Carbtune today

Big thanks to Farjo for the loan of the Carbtune gauges, and also to Punkstig for collecting them and bringing them over.

The job was unbelievable frustrating, going backwards and forwards with the adjusters, with the slightest tweak on one affecting the others too.  It took us a good couple of hours to do both bikes, not including the extra time needed for some electrical problems on stigs bike.

For me, the difference is huge. The engine feels super smooth, from 2K up. I can cruise at 3-4K and it feels like I'm coasting with the engine off.  Even the rough spot around the 6K mark is less harsh than before.

I've taken a few notes and pictures, which I'll post up on another thread, as a useful guide for others.

You definitely need a lot of patience to get the adjustment spot on, but the smoothness of the engine is worth it ^^

My 1000 was like riding on silk after I did it's balance a few months back Big Grin
