Buying a Fazer 600

I am on the look out for a good clean lowish mileage Foxeye 600 for my son.

On many ads the fins of the engine are painted and look crap without the silver edges and the decals are missing from the fairing.

I have contacted about 6 of the advertisers

When asked why the engine was painted, 2 said it was not :rolleyes and others did not know  :rolleyes

When asked if the bike has been crashed or dropped they say no and my next question is why are there no decals on the fairing, 2 (a different to previous) said they did not like them another said there are no decals on the fairing as standard :rolleyes Another who said it had new tyres and I asked what tyres and what size they were I was told the front was a 115/70 17 Battleaxe and the rear was a 160/70 17 Battleaxe :eek

One fellow had the nerve to tell me I knew nothing about what an original Fazer looked like as his was original with no decals front or rear, fins painted black, silver wheels and a 120 front tyre. :lol

I saw this one the other day, think it's someone's on here as I recognize the wheels (surely can't be two of them) and he seems to know what he's talking about... definitely not standard. Strangely, though of doing it to mine.

Very annoying this type of stuff...why is there no honesty these days......ill be braking the noggyfighter soon & im willing to bet that it is far better condition than many of the purported standard never been dropped (supposedly) bikes.




Theres still plenty good ones out there though...good luck with the search........give him your one

a little drum sander attachment on the dremel and you can get those fins shiny silver again in no time I dont know why people dont just buy some 4mm masking tape when painting it though.

Like anything else, you will probably know a genuine one straight away when you go to view it

He said that to me yesterday, "I could really do with a 1000 for the extra power". :rolleyes

Even though he has been riding bikes since he was 12 and has a full licence since he was 19, but at 23 the insurance would be a BIT on the high side.

Unfazed. have you checked the insurance costs? My lad is 19 and got told his ER5 premium (£140 fully comp) would increase by £80 which included £40 admin fees. Totl cost to insure the FZS600 at 19 is £180!

It will be his first insurance in the UK and from what I can remember when my eldest son was in the UK the insures did not take his 5 years no claims from Ireland into account.

When you put up the photo of your new powder coated wheels I thought,  "that's not fair, I wanted gold wheels and you've done it first" :-). Nice bike.

Finally after a month of searching, listening to crap and sellers whose definition of immaculate was totally different to ours, we found our definition of immaculate, a Blue 2003 Foxeye with 10298 miles and all MOT certs to validate the mileage.  [img alt=]http://foc-u.co.uk/Smileys/efocicon/smile.gif[/img]

Paid £1900, not cheap, but good value considering condition and mileage.

Taxed until October 2014 and MOT valid until April 2015,
New Bridgestone BT023 tyres.
A few very small scratches from Bungee cords on the decals of the tail piece on both sides
A small piece broken on the belly pan and on the hugger (from overtightened screws).
Silly beam deflectors on the H4 bulbs inside of the headlamps (not fitted properly) must remove them
One reflector damaged by burned deflector, but we have a reflector from a old broken headlight unit.
New cheapo battery (Blue Label), but again we have a 1 year old spare Yuasa.
F1 International Restrictor kit included, which was on the bike for 4 years from 2006 to 2010.
Must break the bad news to my son now and tell him that the blue ones are the slowest  [img alt=:lol]http://foc-u.co.uk/Smileys/efocicon/lol.gif[/img]

Looks great 8) You're definitely better off spending a bit more at the start and getting a well kept one rather than buying a cheaper one and throwing a load of money into it
