The bidding reached £720 about 3 minutes before it ended then dropped to zero before finishing up at  £25,100

Why? He will have to pay eBay commission.

not if the buyer never pays him Wink it will likely be a "new" account that has bought it so nothing is lost. I didnt know you could cancel an auction mid-way?

Yeh, you can cancel mid way, but not in the last 12/24 hours, but then you only need say its lost, broken or stolen....all that legal binding stuff is a load of balls  :rolleyes
