Hi Guys n Dolls, just reading a couple o threads on dogbones and wondered what effect if any they have on the handling of your bike? I'm 6'4" and my Fazer seems a little to low for me so what advantage does the mod give??/
Cheers Darrsi, just been looking at your shiny, shiny motor, cracking mate 8) , will the height from the floor be different or is it just suspension height that changes, sorry for being a bit thick.
seat will be higher. whole back end (apart from the wheel obviously :rolleyes ) is lifted, means the fork angle is increased, closer to vertical, which results in the quicker turning that darrsi mentioned.
Cheers Richfzs, Dont know if i'll like that , i prefer the more upright position being a senior an all that, get a lot of wrist ache as I found out on my Divvy 600 when I first got that and the bars were forward. Bought some risers and it cured the problem, may have to do that on the Fazer too.
It ain't that shiny at the moment, waiting for time and weather, wanna spray the engine
Depending on how much you raise it the main issues are the stands.
Bike will lean a lot on the side stand, and rear wheel will barely clear the floor on centre stand.
Side stand can be an issue in very hot weather( :rolleyes) on tarmac or soft ground.
More people are born because of alcohol than will ever die from it.
Allow me to assist with the aid of some piccies.some of darrsis points are illustrated.pic 1 with wishbones that had lowered the bike, note bikes rear wheel high in the sky. Was hardly leaning over on side stand, was far too low for me & im only 5 11.
Both pics are with bike on a similar gradient.
Pic 2 with jack up kit, wheel almost touching the deck on main stand, leans over way too far for comfort on the side stand but as its now so easy to put on the main anyway i always use it.
Still easy enough for me to put both feet on the deck although its a bit trickier getting my leg over ahem! When ive got my leathers on..
Bike turns in much quicker & may not be to everyones liking,i find it so sharp that i often apex too early when i can leave turning allot later & have no trouble.operator error though! :o
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike
Just wondering Noggy are those 25mm or 40mm dog bones? I want some but don't know which to go for and the adjustable ones are quite a lot more expensive.

These are now 130mm, i went quite extreme so i think it jacked it more than 25mm but like i say its perfectly fine for me.standard we ascertained was 140mm,like darrsi says going shorter actually jacks up further.
Heres a link to my original post about it,it appears that darrsi & deadeye have always been the go to dogbone gurus 8)
