Coming up for six months since I got my bike and it's due it's first service.
I would have popped down to my local HG, but they closed it and the next nearest is over an hour away. They've not reopened the website yet, so I've got to look elsewhere.
Apart from going expensive via a dealer (which I'm not discounting, if it's the best option), but what other places should I consider?
Having just brought one (again!) I tend to use eBay oil + filter packs from busters. Oddly enough it's cheaper than going directly to them ?
The filter is basically free this way, I'd recommend castrol power1 but doubt there's a whole lot of difference between the semi syns... As long as its changed every 6k or 6months it's all good.
I'm particular about filters so always go to the stealer for an OEM filter but get semi-synthetic from Halfords.
Probably not the cheapest route . . .
....----//// Life is not a rehearsal \\\\----....
The K&N filters sold with some of the oil deals on Ebay are good - use them on my goldwing and Fazer - usually free postage too so as Fullonfazer says, it's cheaper than going direct to stealers! I use Motul 5100 semi syth with K&N. They usually have a 'bolt head' to fit a spanner on for undoing. No need for special tools but Danger of overtightening - be careful. K&N and Ebay oil deals - recommended.
IF IT AIN'T BROKE, FIX IT 'TILL IT IS.

Doh, never thought of looking on ebay.
Any named brands of filter to avoid, or recommended. K&N and genuine are obviously recommended, but what about others?
HifloFiltro and Filtrex are the ones that appear most commonly.
Alternately Halfords sell fazer oil filters (Champion brand) and moto oil. Or any local independent will be supplied by a motor factors so could get a part delivered (support the local shop and all that).
