bars :P
#1
Well finaly got my gen 1 back from the insurance company after they wrote it off.
Had a good probe around it and other than the obvious scratchs and slight cracks/scratchs on the fairing its looking pretty good.

The carbon front mudguard is smashed to buggery so now fitted the OE one back on.
front tyre was cut so new PR3 has gone on.

The bars seem to be slightly off angle, dropped it off to the local spanner today for its new MOT so i can get it back on road again. they lossened the bars and forks etc and retightend everything up, its now better but its still not perfect. we both think the renthal 758's have a very slight bend in them as everything else seems to check out

So gunna replace them (sadly this will meen new heated grips etc as well or just new grips and go for the DL650 handguards)

But finaly to the point Tongue i am thinking of trying a diff bar, the 758's are pretty good but i might try something a little more forward/lower. is the next step 658's? and are they called "flats"?
who has a good grip in mind? i dont want anything to thin but im not after the thick foam/sponge type either.

if you are careful you should be able to remove the heated grips and re-use them,i did this when i changed the handlebars on my old zrx1100.It will probably depend on what type of glue(?) was used when you originally put them on.
I have heated grips and handguards fitted as i found that each on their own left certain parts of my hands cold but together eliminated most of the cold.

I doubt its worth me keeping the grips. Been on nearly 4 years now and are very warn. Almost smooth in many places. Will keep the controller as it still works and I have heard they often go.
Good point with using both though, belt and braces approach. I ride all year but in winter normally throw on some ugly muffs, allways nice and toasty inside with the grips on LOL.
But the oxford muffs have pouchs for heated pads, so if they fit over the dl guards that's also a good winter option.

I've put 658s on mine, they do put more weight over the front end, which I prefer, but also the downside of them is,  more weight on your wrists! Having said that, its a small price to pay for more feel and for me, a more comfortable overall riding position. They give it a more sporty riding stance. Worth a try, but if you can, I would try and borrow some to try first.
