Nice New Nut......
#1
After no luck with Yamaha seeming to know anything about 9mm/12mm sproket nuts I've been and bought one from my dealer who I'm quite impressed with, as they also coudn't seem to find any info on it but 30mins after I'd left the shop they rang me to say they'd been on the net and found the part No on a forum??? They also had one in stock.      So I'm planning to swap nuts this weekend and if I'm correct old one was tightened to 70Nm and the new one is 90Nm but why if they both do the same job do I need to tighten the new one more? I understand why it's capable of more but not why it needs to be tighter. Do any of you who have changed this nut before have any suggestions.

Cheers Andy

It's simply a wider nut, when i had mine changed it took my mechanic 40mins to get the original one off with heat treatment. It's always been an issue, and i've read horror stories about shearing/falling off mid-ride.
EVERYONE should get the updated nut, whether you think you need it or not.......at least there's more thread to play with, so being tighter shouldn't be an issue.
More people are born because of alcohol than will ever die from it.
