#1
I know its been covered before, this damn IPAD is no good for my aging eyes.
Anyone tell what they were as standard PLS?

They don't have a single rating as they are dual rate. I've just changed mine (front and rear) for single rate springs to suit my weight (forks serviced and rear damper re-gassed too) and it's made a considerable improvement to an 8,000 m. gen 1.

From the Yamaha Workshop Manual:

Spring rate (K1)                  8.1 N/mm (0.83 kg/mm)
Spring rate (K2)                11.8 N/mm (1.2 kg/mm)
Spring stroke (K1)                  0 to 55 mm
Spring stroke (K2)                55 to140 mm

Total fork travel is 140mm.

Essentially, stock dual-rate springs are too soft in the first part of their travel but too stiff in the latter part.

Changed mine for linear rate springs and the difference is amazing. Did nothing else to the forks other than change the oil (and of course back off the preload which I had maxxed out) and its more than good enough for normal road use.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
