Remove factory 25kw/33bhp restrictor kit
#1
Hi all,

Was wondering what specific parts are needed to de-restrict the bike in the carbs when it's been restricted with the official Yamaha kit. I've been scouring a bit on the forum/online but not much specific info to be had, does anyone know the exact part numbers?

Or perhaps it's cheaper to just buy an entire new set of carbs? Found one online for 80 euros, I can imagine buying the individual parts 4x might quickly add up to around that...

Thanks.

To clarify, it's a 2000-01 model.

Assuming you have the right licence, the kit is easy to remove if it is the normal kit.

Remove the seat, remove the battery, loosen the airbox bolts and clamps holding it to the carbs and pull the airbox backwards. The restrictors are in the inlets (big washers with holes in). Pull them out and put everything back together. Job done.

Yeah, my code "80" just expired which means here in NL I can now ride unrestricted. However, AFAIK the ones with the official restrictors are not done via washers are they? I've heard that the needles & springs in the carb are different.

Ahh perfect that's exactly what I was looking for. So it's just a case of replacing the springs/needles and removing the plate?

wow i just seen this. my bike has no washers in the airbox restricting it but possibly someone only half removed the kit on mine because the steel plates are on all 4 carbs... so I guess these are safe to remove now that I know?

When I sold my 600 the new owner had a restrictor kit fitted that was just a stop on the throttle cable I seem to recall.
