Exhaust header nuts.

  Anyone bought/used these?

I bought a full Motad system a bit back with the idea of removing and storing my still solid original system. I know that the nuts aren't seized cos I have had them off and coppaslipped them, but I want to replace them with dome nuts when I fit the Motad.

They are a good option as a replacement as they help to prevent corrosion from water ingress.

My reservation is the quality of the ones you propose.  They are from China, the steel will be of dubious quality and soft as hell.  You'll round these putting them on let alone taking them off in a few years.

By all means go for the idea but look for some decent stainless ones.

+1  What Middy2000 said. Kays Fasteners is a good firm to deal with. If the dome nuts aren't deep enough, you can either use a regular stainless nut first and then cap it off with the dome nut, or cut the length of the stud thread and just fit a good quality stainless dome nut. Personally I went with the first option.Either method is certainly a good idea to protect the stud thread. :thumbup

just use a bit of loctite 222 (purple low strength) reduces the chance of corrosion dramatically and creates a barrier against galvanic corrosion
+ being low strength wont give too much resistance when removing

a lot of boat builders use something called tefgel but its bloody expensive and i dont think has any anti loosening property's

Oops! I'd already bought them. No worries if they're crap I'll buy something else but I thought for the sake of 3 quid, they were worth a look.
