How much does a Fazer engine weigh?

I should get my Fazer back in a day or two once the engine has been replaced.
But I also need to get the old engine back and I don't want to pay the garage £30 for the privilege, so I need to figure if I can get it in a taxi then carry it in to my house.
Anyone got an idea how much a FZ6 engine would weigh?

I have no idea except you might want to pay the £30 as it sounds like a bargain.
The engine will be HEAVY. I don't think you'll walk far with it unless you put it into a wheelbarrow.
Taxi drivers will not be impressed as it certainly won't be spotlessly clean so you can expect most of them to tell you to foc off.
And then you'll be left there with an engine...

I lifted a CBR600 engine onto my workbench a few years ago. It about killed me! It will be extremely heavy and getting it in and out of a car boot will be difficult even if it’s an estate.

Not an enormous weight (depending how big of a guy you are) but awkward as hell to carry as the weight isn't all in one area.
I'd be inclined to get a mate to come pick it up you, stick with a few blankets in their boot and you should be alright

I've lifted one in and out of a car boot a couple of times, usually on to sheets of cardboard. It's a very risky lift for your back as it is awkward and you'll have to stretch.

It's easier with all the covers on the engine and there is no easy way to do a two man lift unless strapped to a pallet.

50kilos sounds about right, i had an old office chair I used to wheel mine around.

I have a friend who's offered to help me get it home on his trailer.

He also has webbing straps to secure it, so what I figure is that we can loop those around it and then run the straps over our shoulders to move it.

The only bugger is that although I bought the engine last week and the Breakers said they'd ship it Monday to arrive Tuesday so it would be fixed by now, it actually only arrived yesterday, so I might not get it back until next Tuesday

Here at Sharp Hall we have some very heavy planters that I move around the western terrace by "walking" it onto a 5ft length of bendy thin plywood, I can then bend and lift the plywood at my end with the planter at the other end and drag the whole lot to where I need it. (not suggesting you drag it all the way home )

Lifting with straps may be harder than just picking it up and carrying it - as long as it's a short distance. Otherwise get a set of wheels. It all depends on how near you can get to the workshop door.

Yes incredibly risky at the point where you're lent over and the weight is away from the body. The effect of the weight upon the spine in this situation can cause serious damage.

I've suffered with bouts of crippling back pain on and off for most of my adult life from slipped discs and sciatica.

After the initial injury subsequent injuries occur frighteningly easy.

It's difficult to avoid completely when you do manual work, but I won't lift anything risky now, it's just not worth it.
