Silicone hose kits for 97 To 03 fazers

I was the one who set up the group buy and have checked all my emails with sfs and we weren't given any specific reference number for the kits. Be very careful not to get the kits for the FZ6 as it is a completely different engine and set up.

Chris

Sorry I misread what that link was for

Lots of useful details in there and got the date and name so should help SFS track down the details if they still got them

No worries Jules-C  8)

Sorry I can't be more help.

I did try and set up another group buy not long after the original one. Thread for that is here: http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,12648...#msg142584

You might be able to pm the folk that were interested in that one to see if they are still interested, might help get the numbers up a bit. I tried to get folk from other websites to join up too but got no interest from other forums so wouldn't waste your time, this is by far the most active forum, the others very rarely got replies.

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

Heres the latest from Samco:
As previously mentioned, it is possible for us to introduce new kits to the SamcoSport range and if you think there is a market for the Fazer hoses, then I will explain.

The factory would need to see the OEM hoses in order to be able to produce a quotation for the tooling and hose kit itself, and from their calculations, they would work out what their minimum number of kits to produce to be economically viable – This is usually around the 15-20 kit mark. Each tool to make the hoses costs between £125 and £500, so as you can see, the initial costs for the factory is quite high. It takes around 10-14 days to get a quotation from the Factory.

Once an RRP selling price for the hose set is calculated, we can then (if required) list the new kit on our website for pre-order and arrange a discount code that can be used for interested parties if the idea was to sell these to an owners club or internet forum. If your idea was more to help friends or colleagues with Fazers , then possibly you could place the order and then we can offer you a discount for re-sale?

Unfortunately it is not possible for the factory to estimate the tooling or hose cost without seeing the OEM hoses first and therefore we only recommend that people send OEM hoses into us if they believe there is good sales potential. The hose price naturally depends on the size, shape and complexity of the hoses, the more multi-branch (Y shaped) hoses, the more complicated to build and therefore the more expensive the kit will be.

If we manage to get the minimum number of pre-orders, then the tooling is made (4 weeks) and the first set of hoses is produced (4 weeks) and sent to the person that sent in the OEM hoses for trial fitting. Once the trial fit kit has been approved, then the kits can enter into full production, be added to the application list and are available for all dealers to buy thereafter.

The trial kit hose set can be made in any colour and will be supplied free of charge, including stainless steel hose clamps and delivery. This is in return for your efforts and please note that the factory needs to retain the OEM hoses as a permanent template.

Pricing is always the number one question and the most difficult to answer! Please give this some thought and thanks again for your enquiry.

Im happy to send them my oem hosses, they have only seen dry weather of 10,000 miles so they should be a good template.
Seems the best otion is for me to purchse 25 or so kits and pay for the tooling then resel with the price of the tooling split over  the 25 sets.

What are your guys thoughts?

Anxious to here back from sfs, if they have the tooling then we can all save the tooling costs.

I don't believe there's any Y shaped hoses, so the set shouldn't be too crazy priced.

Are you really up for buying 25 sets to resell? Probably talking about £5k...

If they can make them for a realistic price I'd be up for a set.
I'd need red for a fast one if there's colour options Wink

I'd also be interested, as the bike needs a coolant change and would be a good time to change the hoses. PM me if this can be sorted please.

Just came across this thread in my search for new hoses for a streetfighter build I'm in the middle of. This would be perfect if it goes ahead. So put me down for a set too.
