Just above each of the header pipes on me thou there is a bolt with what looks like an inch of a wire wool bobbin, is that likely to be where the pair valves have been removed d'ya think?

With the ais removed you'd have quite good access to the spark plugs. With the pipework removed the stubs are either capped (which could resemble wire wool bobbins)or the stubs removed and the holes tapped and bolts inserted.Sounds like you've got one mod less to do.

Certainly does mate. Still ain't checked if it's been ivanised, but I'm hoping it has. Would have thought if a previous owner did the ais, he would have done the carbs too. It's the slide needles that give it away isn't it? 5 graduations instead of 3? Think that's what Nick told me, my memory is bloody terrible nowadays :-)

Well the ais removal is quite straightforward and cheap and a lot of bikes are done to make plug changing a hell of a lot easier.Falcon would be the best person to give you advice on whether your bikes been Ivanised.

Think that's what Nick told me, my memory is bloody terrible nowadays :-) Stock needles have 5 e-clip grooves same as Ivan's needles. US imports only have 1 e-clip groove so that's not much help. However, stock needles have SD-129 or SD-130 stamped around the top of them and are single-taper only. Ivan's needles have 5 different angles along the length of the needle but only two are really obvious to the eye. Questions? ![]()

Cheers mike, I'll have a look see sometime over the Xmas break, and take some photos ( not blurry ones this time) ;-) I'm almost hoping it isn't , it runs so well, if it could be improved by ivanising on top of that it would be bloody brilliant

If it hasn't been Ivanised and you want a slip on kit, give me a shout. I've got the one that Mike took off of my carbs this year when I upgraded to the Full Monty. Was going to eBay it at some point.
