front caliper service

Hi all,


Doing a full service on both front calipers.
The lower smaller pots are not stuck but but were quite difficult to remove and both inboard pots being the hardest to get out.
On one the dust seal is knackered so i ordered a new seal kit for both calipers.

The pots are looking ok after 44k miles and will clean up ok. But there are pitting 5-7mm from the end of the pot.
Next service I do will require probablynew pots.
Where have people purchased pots from or do I buy OEM ?

Consider looking for used fully working calipers.
Done it myself before and had some bargains that work totally fine, and much cheaper than a rebuild.

Hi all,
I changed the seals yesterday on both calipers and fitted them the right way around. Checked for the lip on the inside on each.
Today I have filled the system with brake fluid.


Cap off reservoir was empty with a little at the bottom, filled it up and started the long process.


After some time alternating between each caliper they seem full and only pumping fluid with some small air bubbles but not all the time.....
But I don't have a solid brake lever it's soft and when I pull the lever fully back I get a squish from the lever area but no air bubble rises in the reservoir when you hear the squish. But fluid does come out of the bleed nipple.
I have left it alone with the cap back on and the lever tied back but with no pressure not sure if it will have any effect.


There are no leaks from anywhere.
I have checked around the brake pads so I assume that all the seals are in the right way around.
Is this normal for a full refill.



What may have happened to the brake master seal could this be contaminated and not giving pressure.


Ideas anyone...

What's a squish?

It can take e few goes of bleeding before getting it right, and then i'll normally tie the lever back over night to eke out any possible remaining air.


Might be worth having a look at this as well.

£50 delivered??? they are really good nick with practically new pads................ got a mint set of discs too, absolutely no lips or scores. pm me if any good
