Front bearing is not feeling great!!
#1
Hey dudes, bit of an issue, i have ridden from essex to wales to the brecon beacons and my wheel bearing on front wheel is making a horrible grinding noise and the vibrations are intermitant but dont feel the safest when they are there. I have only been riding for six months and tbh im not sure how severe this is and i need to get back home tomorrow. If i take it easy will the bike be safe to ride bk home? (250 miles) or should i be looking to get it sorted before i even consider jumping back on??? Any advice would be great cheers.

If it's the wheel bearings then I wouldn't even consider riding it. You need to get it sorted asap.
I could change my opinion, but then we'd both be wrong.

250 miles on shot bearings is not a good idea at all.

When buying the bearings, can anyone tell me specifically what bearings i need please? Also there is a local bike mechanic, if i were to take it in is something they can usually do there and then, or could i expext to wait for parts?

Yamaha dealer/mechanic might have them in stock if you're very lucky, but more than likely they'll need to get them in for next day delivery.

Under bearings section, you should replace both sides.
