I have got the dreaded "have to jiggle "the key syndrome, I have sprayed and dripped lock oil into the lock and it's got slight better, got a price to replace lock and switch of £350 :'( any other advice, lock sets... Please help aaarrrgghhh
Mine was like that when I got it. I blasted it with paraffin and my air line then sprayed it with graphite lock lube and it's not too bad now. They come up on eBay often, ignition, petrol cap and helmet/seat lock for around £80
Intentionally left blank
That is assuming it's a gen 1.

Chain lube is your friend, squirt some down the hole (do not squirt WD40)

Try industrial amount of Halfords electrical contacts cleaner to remove any dirt first, wait to dry well or use compressed air, than use graphite lock lube.
Adrian Monk: Unless I'm wrong, which, you know, I'm not.
Thanks for all the replies, I'll let you know the outcome
Use loads of WD40 to flush the crap out of the barrel and then lube with 3 in 1
wd then whatever oil i have lying around. make sure you coat the key so the detentes get properly lubed in the barrel
The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money!
Tried all options listed best result was electrical contact cleaner then 12 hours later gt85 and 3 in 1, got it to work every 10 tries, still fookayed though
Did the contact cleaner again and Scott oil and it's getting better every day thanks for all the suggestions
Asda maintenance spray, once a month, with a straw into the lock - keeps mine happy.
Im gonna plug the graphite spray again as what i would trust best now.
Trouble is youve probably pumped so much stuff down there now will it have anywhere to go.......although surely contact would flush it all out........i heard once that you shouldnt put oul in as it can attract dirt over time and become a grinding paste.
Anyway back to my point...i think id go with the contact cleaner once more and then the graphite spray after everything has dried up.
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike
You could consider taking the lock unit off and bringing it to a locksmith for a proper service.
It would take a grown up to get the lock off,far beyond my level
Have bought a used spare one qed
