Gen 1 rough running...again
#1
Had this before it was serviced, running like a twin below 3k. Service done and all was fine and sweet again. 1500 miles later and it's getting rough again.

One question. The vacuum take-off cap for the Scottoiler seems very loose fitting. Could this have any connection with the rough running?

It could be that it's drawing air through the take off cap. Remove the take off cap on the scottoiler and block the carb rubber outlet or put plumbing tape around the outlet and reconnect the take off cap and see if that works.
If it's broken, it's not fixed.

I thought about wrapping some self-amalgamating tape around the cap and take-off? Is that the same sort of stuff as the plumbing tape you refer to?

Plumbing tape is a very thin tape that is used to seal up leaking pipe joints and is good for loose hose fixings.
If it's broken, it's not fixed.

There are two types of Vacuum take off adapters
You might have the wrong one on the it.
However they do crack, but they sell them as a spare part for a few quid. http://www.scottoiler.com/uk/Spares-Adap...e.tpl.html
If yous is not cracked at the 90 degree bend put a mini hose clip on it. :thumbup
