To Drill Or Not To Drill?

I wouldn't, but if you are planning on doing it get yourself a spare lid that way if it don't work out your not up shit creak. If it turns out to be the best thing since sliced bread you can always sell it on.
Bollocks, bigger hammer required

Someone drilled my lads airbox on his bandit 400 and it ran like a bag of nails (it was a shitter anyway).
I just put a couple of layers of gaffer tape over the holes and it ran better. That gaffer tape stayed on there for the two years he was on his restricted licence. So if it all goes wrong, gaffer tape!

You could always plug the holes with blind grommets 25 mms should fit .

remember ,,most mods are for outright revs = power,,, but if you aint nailing it and want midrange intact be careful,,keep it medium.
An ageing test pilot for home grown widgets that may fail at anytime.

Interesting. I always had the idea that with just a can swap, you don't need to do owt else, and that you balanced airbox mods with carb jetting changes and the like. Got a tri-oval on mine (Delkevic) though, and I swear it throws the carbs out of balance. Don't know how that could be, but I'm ever more suspicious about it. The Scorpion oval can I had on the last one went on before Ivanising (so no carb or airbox mods to start with) and ran just fine.
Try it without drilling first, see how it runs.

When I installed the K&N air filter it deffo felt faster , when I swapped the standard exhaust for a big bore stubby with baffle it felt slower and popped on the overrun , when Mike did the full Monty ivans on it , it felt quicker and smoother though doesn't pop any more but sounds fantastic above 7k rpm.

i havent drilled the air box but the bike is ivanised runs better with the cut down yoshi than the akra i had on before.
Hi got a little too inquisitive about the holes in the airbox and drilled them,oh dear!!
Seem to have lost a lot of midrange grunt at the benifit of top end revving which I dont like :'( think I,m gonna get a new airbox lid :rolleyes . Ps Bobdog how did you shorten the yoshi?

Nice bit of duck tape will be fine to close the holes.
Intentionally left blank
