Hey everyone.

The name is Ed and I've just defected from a Kawasaki ZX9R to a 2009 FZ1S (pictured below)

First impressions of the bike are that it is just amazing. The upright position is a god send to the wrists, without any loss of speed or power. Loving the handling. It's infinitely more capable than my old ZX9. Low speed, round town riding is so easy, while motorway speeds are comfortable enough (maybe just a little bit more windy than the ZX9)

The FZ1S is tastefully modded, with a Power Commander V, a Carbon 'Scorpion' can, Touring screen, Heated grips, ASV levers, Scotoiler, R+G tail tidy and crash bungs. Sounds and rides awesome.

The bike is spotless. I seriously had never seen such a clean and tidy bike. Will be applying lashings of ACF50 in the near future, as I do intend to ride her through the winter.

It came with a set of colour coded Yamaha panniers (which I'm hoping someone here can advise me on how to fit)

The photos are from the original ebay ad, as I'm not much cop with a camera phone...

Good choice in steed there mate, the fz1 will do just about anything you want it to, and it'll do it quickly Tongue

Now sit back and enjoy the banter of these bunch of loons 8)

A very big welcome to you Mungel.

& a very nice looking FZ1 8)

I've had mine a season now & apart from i still need a power commander my bike also has quite a few mods.....for scratching on the weekend i love it & it has an addictive growl.

Always good to hear about other bikes & defectors because at this moment in time the Gen2 thou is suffering a bit of a crisis.....i always heard that the ZX9 was a sportsbike for tall riders & had assumed that it would be comfyso interesting that you prefer the FZ.....the original thou is much more popular as it tours better and i get the feeling that it justisn't  fashionable to like the FZ1 right now....so we have had a few defectors in the other direction.

If i had to be critical then the seat on the FZ1 isnt too comfy and my rearsets are a bit cramped for me even though they look the business........& id ideally like a cleaner example for myself as mine has a little wear and tear and 35k miles....& i cant quite get to grips with the flat standard handlebars on mine either.

I see yours also has some aftermarket handlebars and they look good......is there any sign of tight cables from your handlebars with them being more upswept?.

Here's a shameless plug of my bike. 8)

I think the bars on mine are from an FZ8. No issues with the cables reaching and no problems lock to lock.

The ZX9R was comfy for a sports bike. I'm 6ft and I never had any issues with it. A friend of mine had a GSXR750 and the ZX9R was certainly more roomy and less of a pain on the wrists.... but the FZ1 is just so much better.
I seriously could spend all day long on it and still feel fresh as a daisy at the end.
