It's probabably about time (12 yr old Foxeye) that I changed the brake lines... (and fluid!)
What's the easiest replacement set up, standard or race?
Never replaced brake lines before but willing to give it a go
Well I ain't gnasher (anyone seen him around here recently?), but I'd say race are easier. Less joints to make, less places for bubbles to sit and make bleeding a pain.
I went with HEL race setup on my boxeye, was the first time I'd done brakes, and it was a doddle.
Cool, will start getting the Fazer ready for the road, cheers!
Race setup it better. I went with Goodridge which are good aswell. really simple to do as the front is straight from the reservoir straight to each caliper. gets rid of the union. Little tip if you don't already know is when you are bleeding the brakes, leave the reservoir lids off and hold in/down the brake levers and after a few seconds you will see the air bubbles popping out in the reservoir. Replace the lids and bleeding is so much quicker and easier..
It's not a speed limit it's a target
Direct from reservoir to each caliper was cheaper IIRC as there was only three hoses for the whole bike instead of 4.
New rear tyre, oil change, new sprocket bearing on, ready for the road!
Project brake line next, hopefully HEL will still have their FOC-U offer on
Thanks for the tips guys... will let you know how it goes
