Undecided about fazer FZ1
#1
Hi All
I would like some advice please. I am concidering buying a Fazer FZ1 on the ten plate with 7200 miles on the clock.  I ride a street triple at the moment (09) but find it a pain on longer journeys and motorways due to the wind blast.  what are your thoughts on (1) the better of the two bikes and(2) how good is the Fazer?.

Regards

Ian

Hey Red Imp

Welcome to the site.

I know nothing...i only got an old 600.....but you've come to the right place.

Lots of controversy between the Gen 2 like you're looking at & the old classic Gen 1.... Basically the Gen 1 for touring....gen 2 is for is more sporty stuff in comparison.

I'm Sure the gen 2 owners will help with your question.....but compared to your speed triple then power delivery i imagine will be the biggest difference.

Hope you get the answer your looking for. 8)

I had a tiger 1050, and loved the engine, hated the chassis. I swapped it for my 10 plate fz1s.

The fazer is a rev happy beast, and is very quick! It handles really well standard, but a few minor mods make it handle really well. Brakes are very, very good!!

The fz1 tuning wise isn't exactly cheap (unlike the s3 which you can remap for free).
Basically you need to buy a PC3/5, or similar if you want to tune it, which is well worth it. Mine now with a few mods is superbly quick!

The fz1 had less spread of torque than the trump, but bigger grins when you rev the beast, and it loves to rev!

I'll be honest, the fz1 is a comfy sportsbike, NOT a sports tourer, but it WILL be better than the s3 for distance.

Take one out for a lengthy test ride and see for yourself.
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

Welcome!  Smile

The FZS1000 is a better all-rounder than the FZ1 (by all reports), albeit slightly slower and less sporty. But also can be bought for very little these days. Horses for courses, I suppose, I'd test ride both and see which you prefer.  Smile

Hello red imp, i have the 08 fz1 and love it. I have never had a triumph to compare it to but i use mine to commute, tour, and play on. Its not perfect at any of these but it is bloody good.

Picked the bike up on Friday , done about a hundred miles on it so far and now it rains everyday!  Very smooth and effortless ride and speed when needed.  I'm going to change the screen , levers and put a tail tidy on straight away then next month changing the exhaust for a pipeworx one unless any of you good people can recommend a decent one ( end can only) ?
