So it's Chain and Sprocket Time

Hey everyone, so it's time for me to get a new chain an sprockets, old chains at the limit now for adjustment. I've done a little looking on eBay and was thinking this chain an sprocket set from Busters (http://bit.ly/1mQaqAh), any thoughts?

What else am I going to need? I know there's a lot of talk about the up rated sprocket nut, where's the best place to get one? Any tips or possible pitfalls you guys are aware of?

I've just realized that I've been riding with the old sprocket nut for the last 30,000 kilometers - since I bought the bike!      Ordered the updated one just in case, but perhaps it's not as bad as it seems?  :rolleyes

D.I.D is a good name though most on here recommend the Heavy Duty version instead (circa £90-100~ last I had seen)

The uprated OEM nut can be bought from most Yamaha dealers for under £5 or you can buy them online but costs do vary. I got mine from Wemoto as I couldn't be bothered to try and find my dealer plus it looks like the price has dropped on their site as well - it cost me around £15 last time (incl. postage) but has dropped to £6~ (excl. postage) now

I just changed my chain at 52,000 miles, I bought the bike at 25,000 and it had a newish looking DID chain on it then so not too bad.

When I changed the chain I put the uprated sprocket nut on so it had been running on that for the whole 52K Got a Regina HD chain and sprok set for £130 at Essential Rubber near the Blackwall Tunnell, good value I thought!

I think I'll go with heavy duty aswell then. Wemoto sounds good can't be arsed with the main dealers. Now I gotta get a torque wrench, read the other thread on these.

Wow, that's a coincidence, I bought that exact Busters Chain & Sprocket kit from ebay & fitted it last week!

The rear sprocket is black, unlike the one shown in the picture

Too early to tell how it will perform but past experiences with DID have been good

I bought this breaker bar to get the front nut off as you're not supposed to use a torque wrench to undo nuts, plus my normal wrench wouldn't give enough leverage.  I also got a 32mm socket from Ebay.  Made a hell of a crack when it finally came loose!

@kebab19 black will tie in nice with my bike being silver and black. First impressions good though. Do the sprockets look ok? That's my concern really as I know the DID name is trusted.

I got a nice big breaker bar just don't fancy over tightening that sprocket nut. I've gotta get a chain press/riveter as well unless anyone here lives near Caerphilly and would like to borrow me one

Just gotta wait until payday to get all my bits.
