Anybody got Fazer 1000 fork internals
#1
When replacing the fork seals on the Fazer 1000 (carb model) yesterday I discoverd one of the internal damper rod/cartridge unit is knackered. :'(
Anyone got a one they are willing to sell

Hey, that's interesting. When I went to look at my bike to buy it from a dealer, I noticed a fork seal leak, so I asked them to replace the fork seal. Left the shop for a few hours to let them prep the bike, when I got back they said it was taking longer than usual because when they went to replace the seal, they found it had a knackered damper rod! Luckily they had another bike in the showroom which they robbed for mine. So is this something to look out for on this model I wonder?

From what I can determine, it seems there is a rubber seal at the base which breaks up and allows the oil flow back up the inside around the adjuster rod.. This is the first time these forks were ever dismantled and it only has about 20,000 miles on it.
Thanks in advance for looking Sshrekster

Mine was only on 17500 miles when I bought it.
But 3 others I've owned didn't have this happen so maybe just coincidence.

I have one, you have mail.
I remember getting my last Fazer forks done by Maxton and they strongly advised me to change the dampers. They made ones from steel if I remember.

I checked with Maxton prior to putting up the post, they will only supply the dampers if you are getting the forks overhauled by them.
I have sent you PM
