Brake Pads
#1
Know this has been done a bit before (well, a LOT before  :lol ) but I need a quick bit of advice on pads.
Front pads I'm pretty certain will be needing replacing, I can't see them very well on the bike but I reckon they're close, so will probably be replacing them with Carbone Lorraine as I've had them before, and they're bloody excellent.
The rear may not need doing as I don't tend to use it as much at all, but would still like to do it anyway really for peace of mind, but not sure what to put in there. The reason I like the CL pads up front is because they've got a fair bit of initial bite, followed by a lot of power. I don't mind having decent power at the rear, but I don't want bite - the main times I use the rear are to stabilise the bike a bit whilst leant over, and I really don't want to be locking the rear whilst leant right over if possible!
So, what type of pad should I be looking for, in order to get a decent amount of braking power, but without the initial bite?
Cheers fellas!

How about a step down from full on competition jobs you'll have on the front - maybe EBC HH sintered, nice bite and progressive!

Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.

Plus +1 on that!

HH are the way to go - I swear by these and have them fitted to every bike and they don't eat discs like some other high performance pads  :thumbup

I have organic pads on the rear and they work just fine for stabilising the bike and a little extra stopping power in those  :eek  moments. I still manage to lock the rear wheel sometimes though, but only twice in the 20 months they have been on the bike, compared to lots with the heavy duty pads.
Not quite sure what to do with my early mid-life crisis. Ideas on a post card to P.O.BOX 150...

I'm using Organics on the rear as well - I prefer the feel of them

If it means I need to keep on top of the brake dust a little more, then so be it - not a bad compromise in my opinion

That's a pretty good suggestion actually, I had EBC on the front of a bike a couple years back and didn't really get on with them as although the power seemed okay, they were lacking a bite in bite - but that would make them pretty perfect for the rear!
SHould probably clarify, I'd be using the road compound CL make, not their racing compound! They're simply by far and away the best oads I've ever come accross!

Just like tyres brake pads are a very individual feel preference,
I've gone through many in the past and settled on Ferodo platinums, great stopping power and feel but the main thing that does it for me is there is virtually no difference in stopping power in the wet, which in Our fair country is pretty important!
I swapped them out for ferodo sintered's for a track day a few weeks ago which were very good on track but I don't like them on the road, so it'll be back to the platinums for me!
Some say...
