front pads
#1
Changed the front pads (EBC)  on my '58 plate gen 2 a month or so ago and have just located a rattle/ clonk when coming to a stop. Traced it to the pads tipping on the pins in the caliper. Anyone else had this problem with EBC pads or have I just got a duff set?

Did you perhaps put the 'stay' spring back in the wrong way round? Easy to do.

Ralphie, no backing plate fitted and at 13k I assume the pads were original from new. Also did them a side at a time to make sure the the springs were the same. I've downloaded the official FZ1 repair manual from a guy on e-bay for a couple of quid so I'll investigate that as well.
Thanks for the replies.

Nope - not the springs, just checked the manual and they are the correct way up. Don't know if I've still got the others, I'll have to have a rummage in the garage. Think I'll also measure them for comparison. Never had this problem before so I still suspect the EBC pads.

You should fit the heatsink shim things, but I think they only come with genuine pads not on their own. Have EBC pads on mine and no rattles or clonks etc.
