I agree with Mike, your seat looks like it has had an inch taken out of it.


I have just had a seat made in the Corbin style by Digger seats with an extra inch added, for a bit more seat height and open up the old knees a bit. Shame I am not home until mid July or you could have tried one of mine as I don't live that far from you.

I have effectively raised my ride height quite a bit. Shorter dog bones and an adjustable rear shock (Nitron) which is on max height. Have left the front yokes in their standard position. Result is a responsive front end and a noticeably higher bike.


Side effect is that I almost never use the side stand. I'm sure it is safe but I feel uncomfortable letting it go down that far. On the plus side I don't have to get off the bike to use the centre stand. (But I do need a block of wood under the ss for removing wheels, adjusting chain etc)
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Right! Seat has DEFINITELY been re-sculpted to a lower profile, so.....
Managed to get hold of the guy who bought my first Gen 1 and we're getting together in the next few days to compare and maybe swap seats if we're both happy.
Had a play with the forks and have now dropped them correctly. WOW! I love the change in the steering and general feel of the bike.
I'm hoping the seat swap will sort my ride height issue out too.
Gonna hang fire fitting the shorter dog bones until I've tried the old seat. It's possible that the higher seat AND jack-up may be overkill.
Even though I really like the profile of a jacked up Gen 1, the side stand and rear wheel touching the ground when on centre stand might turn out to be impractical for a daily rider like me.
I'll update, once I've tried out the above options.
Here's a pic of how my forks look now. God I hope I've done it right!

Heh Heh, I do ride daily. Remember my rear is jacked up twice, once by shorter dog bones and the same amount again by adjustable shock. Stands were fine when I only had the shorter dog bones.

Fair point. I've got to at least try it I suppose. I'll let you know how I get on.

You could put some old rwu motocross forks in, that'd raise the front a bit, be soggier than aforementioned omlettes tho :lol
On a more serious note, my mate has some bar mounting extensions on his Fazer 600 and he swears by them, not my cup of tea, but worth a try if all else fails!
