exhaust
#1
Hey all,

Got my new can and link pipe today, tried gelling the standard exhaust off and its stuck like a bugger.. Any tips please for when i wake up sober in the morning to tackle it again and remove the old one.

Thanks

Penetrating fluid for a few hrs and I found a gentle side to side rock motion to get it moving then a twisting motion to work it off.

Gentle persuasion, WD40 or release agent, bash it ON and bash it OFF repeatedly untill it moves, then bash it off. Use rawhide or rubber mallet for bashing. Heat with blow torch if needed or use more release agent. Twist and pull. Chock the front wheel if bashing forward.
Some say that he eats habanero chilli peppers dipped in oil of capsaicin for extra bite and that his pyjamas are made from Nomex. All we know is, he's called Ad the Bad

Most aftermarket link pipes don't use the Yamaha seal, they fit the pipe direct, you may have to use a bit of clear silicon to give a good seal.....try first as it will be easier to get off next time.

ok m8y ty, gonna go out and hack it off now( gently remove the carbon seal with a screwdriver lol)
, not comfortable bashing it any more in case something else breaks , cheaper to replace the seal that whatever else might fall off lol

Sorry I meant to say try it first, then use clear silicon only if you have to. Obviously all is well so no problem.
