You can...  they smell terrible. :lol
Also, the faster you wave sparklers around the dimmer they get. (They supply their own oxygen so the rapid movement only has a cooling effect.)

Paul, shall I bring PROPER stuff with me then?
I think it sounds similar to Termite, but with an "H" somewhere...

Tori, table salt should give an orange tint, try low sodium salt in it for a nice purple colour.

want to try this but how do you get ignition? I know you have said a 9v Battery, do you leave it in or just use it as a scource of ignition?

how long does it take to light?
It ain't what you ride, it's who you ride with!!!

they light with a naked flame so a normal lighter would do

If you rub a 9v battery on wool it ignites it, or just use a lighter. Fine grade wire wool burns best. Don't buy the pads as they're too tightly packed and don't ignite or burn so well.

I was out again last night, so I'll have some more pics up later Smile

Looks like a fun evening. Smile
Did you try any additives for a different effect? The sparks in one pic look a different colour.

No I didn't this time. To be honest it was so cold and windy I didn't hang about on that jetty long. Plus the locals get a bit antsy lol. Wooden boats etc...
The colours are just post processing Smile It is great fun!

I was wondering about rigging a canister of steel wool to a bike, forward motion providing the airflow for good combustion rather than whirling it round manually, though some care would be needed to ensure you didn't set fire to the bike or yourself. With electric ignition from a switch on the handlebars it could result in a good photo either from a distant viewpoint or from a car alongside... should look like the bike is rocket propelled. :lol
Not that I'm suggesting this should be attempted on public roads of course. Wink
