My 2003 Fazer has been unused since about 2015. For time it's been in a garage. This summer I've bought a new battery and changed the petrol. When I press the ignition button it turns over, and seems to want to start, but just won't.
Could it be because the petrol between the fuel tank and the carbs is still the old stuff? If so is it a question of trying and retrying until the new fuel reaches the engine? Or are there other likely causes?
Thanks for any help.
you could drain the carbs off first but the jets may be blocked anyway.
Give it a squirt of easy start to see if it runs on that - this will prove its fuel related rather than ignition related.
Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again
Thanks for the reply. TBH my abilities won't stretch to being able to do that :lol What's easy start?
I should have written in the first post that I want to sell it, and am assuming I'll get more for a runner than if someone has to come with a traler. Hense the desire to get it started. But if it's too expensive or time comsuming I doubt it's worth it.
Easy start, comes in an aerosol, Halfords sell it £4.99.
Whizz kid sitting pretty on his two wheeled stallion.
Hay hay, long time no hear.
As mentioned, it will probably be furred up pilot jets, caused by years of moisture build up. The only real way to sort them is to remove the crabs and clean them mate.
Sorry there isn't really any other way of sorting it :\

Carbs might also indicate other cleaning is requited :b
