Focer font of knowledge snorkelling

Good to know that the water pressure will help seal it. I wont be free diving, just a little down for a closer look - like this, the racing snake becomes - sea snake.

I never had water entering that mask, it had a nice tight seal around the face. There is a little ball in the top that "seals" off when submerged.

However I actually found it difficult to submerge with it, as that big pocket of air infront of your face (plus the mask itself being buoyant), prevented me diving down beneath the surface well. Perhaps I'm a lightweight, or lacked technique. I also wasn't wearing flippers. Bobbing around on the surface it served me very well.

One issue for us is that the full masks are a little too bulky when packing for a flight

One thing though is I am sure you have seen the way hold luggage gets treated so being plastic I wonder if they are a little bit vulnerable whereas the normal snorkel almost indestructible and the mask has toughened glass
