Thinking of a biking weekend in Somerset.
Whereabouts should we stay for a couple of decent biking routes?
Would need a bike friendly hotel for a couple of nights, any recommendations?
I had a biking week end in Bristol a year or so ago and stopped here.
The great thing was that behind the down stairs room is the car park and we parked under the cover area outside the bedroom windows, so all though the bike where not locked away they were out of site of the road and if you booked the right rooms just outside your window.
If on the way you pick up the A4 around Newbury then at Chippenham pick up the A420 on in to Bristol more fun than the motorway.

Cheddar gorge is a must

.
a bird in the hand poops on the wrist
Be careful doing the gorge!! Often there are free roaming sheep that wonder onto the road!!Do a scout run the first time to make sure there are no sheep about, then go back and have a good run
Cheddar gorge will be top of the list!
Don't particularly want to go as far as Bristol from Kent as its only a short trip. Definitely don't want to go clubbing in the city, a meal and a pint in a country pub hotel will do quiet nicely :lol
Try the shrubbery hotel in shepton mallet, it's central to all good routes in Somerset, small private car park, biker friendly and their food and hospitality is amazing..... Its more real and down to earth, with great clientele than their website would lead you to believe
Thanks I'll look that one up.
