Gave a good friend my old trusty boxeye for a few weeks (while I'm down with a flue). He rides Honda CB500 and a Suzuki SV650 (with aftermarket suspension). Both bikes are stripped for painting now (idiot! - I told him to just ride until late autumn, painting can wait). Nice weather came and he was desperate.
Anyway, man was delighted with the engine and handling. Said he didn't expect so much torque at low revs and the engine being so smooth, for both accelerating and braking with the engine. Now he's considering a FZS, after all the talk about hating inline fours etc.

it really is the dark side, I had one years ago and the headlights, even with the mod that keeps the two headlights on was like wee wullie winkys candle--pure S***

Boxeye is made for us with cateyes. Those who don't have cat eyes, need to buy a foxeye model!
Poor headlights. The difference in price for a decent foxeye was my two whole months pay at the time. So I stuck with the boxeye. Works for me, just take it slow after it gets dark. It's a nice weather joyride thing for me. Track and travel. For all practical purpuses, whether it's commuting, getting groceries whatever - I use a bicycle.
