Fz6 Spark Plug Caps
#1
Looking for the collective expertise of you fellow foccers.

On an overhaul of my '04 FZ6 Fazer, one of the spark plug caps has a damaged moisture seal at the base.

I've had a good look on-line and can't seem to find the cap let alone the seal. I can order a replacement yamaha original complete plug cap, but at over 40 quid, that seems a bit excessive for just a moisture seal.

Would it matter if I just left it? The top seal provides a pretty good seal, so I don't foresee water sitting around the plug.

Many thanks

In answer to your question, I have no idea? I'm going to change the plugs in mine soon, well overdue as I've nearly 39k miles on the clock will do the air filter ar the same time.
How have you got to the plugs? have you dropped the rad down, might change coolant as well.
I looked on youtube and a guy showed how it was done, in 6 parts must have taken over an hour so just sampled bits to get an idea.
You could always put a VERY SMALL amount of sealant at the TOP as an extra seal but think on at sometime you will have to remove it again. One of the plug leads came out of the cap on mine I pushed it back with a bit of sealant on and it was ok.

I've gone in from the front, but as I'm already doing a bit of a deep clean and lube lots of stuff is off already..all fairing, horn,  radiator so not a fair comparison. Removing the rad was easy so if you are planning to change coolant too then these make the ideal two 'linked' jobs.  Good chance to strip and repaint my peeling radiator side tanks. Smile

You could buy a complete second hand set of caps and coils for that money on ebay.

Here is one
