Exup valve...
#1
Hi, just got my first fazer 1000 this week after yeeeaaarrrrsss of wanting one. I've had 3 fzs600's, the first of which I bought brand new back in '98.... Ahh, the days when I had money......
Anyway, this particular bike is a 2004 model with 50k on the clock. It's had a hard life too but I love it. By far the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden..
Naturally, the exup valve, cables and servo motor are all totally U/S
I have had a look around the internet for answers but clearly, this is probably the best place to ask the following question.. 'Do the downpipes/exup valve etc from an R1 fit straight onto my bike?'.
If not, any other pipes or combination of pipes, exup etc be made to fit?
There's not much for sale on fleabay at the mo but I will keep looking...
Any advice etc will be gratefully received...
Thanks guys...
Pete

The R1 headers don't fit, but the valve is the same.

Recovering a knackered EXUP is doable with a bit of care and patience, replace all bolts with stainless.

Apparently with a bit of modding a Gen 2  exup servo will fit, replacement cables can be had from wemoto and venhill, among others

Loads of info and how to's here http://cartestsoftware.com/fz1/

And EXUP specific here http://cartestsoftware.com/fz1/exupmaintenance.html

If all fails, second hand ones are available, or New Hindle (Canadian) headers from PDQ.

Mine has done nearly 60 thousand miles and exup servo motor has been playing up.
Managed to strip it down delicately and clean the brushes and contacts.
A new one is 530 bucks aus, hopefully it will last a while. R1 servo motor wont fit and is different in operation .
Cheers

If you can get a second hand Gen2 one its way cheaper and the operation is the same (I picked one up for £30). The only difference is the mounting brackets. There is a rubber connection that fits into the two holes that slides onto the bracket......you have to dremel the servo to make the rubber fit snuggly into these holes....then voila job done. The Gen2 also comes with a cover for protection for the spindle that can be fitted or not.....good luck
