Any of you chaps use them, and would be able to recommend a specific make/model?
My girlfriend isn't particularly confident on the bike, so wired up a really old cheapy set I had knocking around and it definitely helped, but being cheap at anything above about 50mph there was a whole load of wind noise and not a lot of speaking noise!
I use a PMR version from Maplin. Allows the Mrs to communicate with me from the back seat or my son from his bike.

what sort of distances between bikes do these work over? was thinking of getting a set for when i go to wales & mrs is in the car...
It ain't what you ride, it's who you ride with!!!
officially its about a mile but my experience is about 1/2mile and it starts to break up. Have used the handsets between cars too when travelling rather than phone between cars. Especially when abroad.
Extra benefit is you can give one to the kids so you can call them back from the campsite park for dinner without walking down there and interrupting your beer :thumbup

I got a set from amazon last year for my mate and I to go euro-touring. They are made by BT, are fairly cheap and are of great quality. The distance between bikes is over 1k in a line (hills and bends is shorter, but if you can see the bike, the intrcom will work). The intercom works with the other intercom, my phone and my Zumo all at the same time. They cut in and out as I choose, with the sat-nav taking auto priority. I can hear fine with earplugs in my ears, the music goes louder than I would want and the battery life is silly good. I have not charged it for weeks. I did a full review on amazon for the product as I was so impressed. At around £80 a pair, there a bargain. Someone on amazon messaged me the other day to ask a question about them and I think they were on sale for £56 a pair!!!
Hope this helps

I bought a cheap set years ago with the intention of using it for passengers, then i saw the light and thought do i really want people talking in my ear when i'm trying to concentrate, so i kept them boxed up, in fact i don't even know what happened to them.
I like the idea from biker to biker though, it certainly beats shouting at each other.

As Mick said, that's them. Good units for the money I paid, great for the price they are now. £56. Deal. Of. The. Decade.

I use Autocom, after trying loads of others- they are more expensive- but they are robust.
A cheaper version is intaride
