balls what might I have done !
#1
well bike past its mot with flying colours last week
charged the battery all seemed fine

next day the battery was dead
so being a clever bugger I put the bike back in the garage where I have a car battery with a set of jump leads!

popped the seat off wondered around the bike picked up the leads to conected them to the battery
then as I conected them to the bike!  bloody mice running around in the garage , not much of a problem its only a garage ?  but we store loads in our garage along with the bike , connect up the bike turn around to try a scare the little bugger off

after about 5 seconds I'm meant with a strong smell of burning !

F0ck fock fock ! while I have been distracted I had connected the battery up the wrong way round !!

burnt my fingers but disconected it, smoke sparks like a firework display  and the smell of burning plastic !

I am fairly sure the battery if focked ! but I think it was already !  its been standing for nearly 2 months

The bike still runs and I cant see any other damage just the jump leads are now crispy  and the clips and springs are slighty deformed and no longer move !

Anything else I should check before I take it for a run ?

and let the piss taking comence !

We have all done something just as stupid, thats life.
If bike is running ok and starts up ok take that as a good sign. I would visually check as much of the electrics as you can to see if there are any signs of damage.
As for the mice traps and poison, or get a jack russell!

dont that and I couldnt see a think I am more worried about the charging side voltage regulator ect

not that I have a clue how to test them

as for the mouse
resently a family moved out of our road , new people have totally rebuilt there house since then
the whole area is filled with mice , we have them in the bases of our kitchen units the floor boards the walls !

my home seems like a since from the film  mouse hunt at times !

Hope your house doesn`t end up like the one in the filmed end up.
If you have a multimeter you can check your charging etc, or borrow one from a mate.

It is too much of a coincidence that mice were heavily involved in this story.

Think outside the box, not your fault

I had blocked this off with a little bit of tissue !

you may well have shocked your old battery back to life!

it's an old garage trick, some dead batteries respond well to being momentarily connected to a charge the wrong way round....
is it clean enough?

I connected the battery the wrong way round once. It blew the main fuse but it was fine other than that.
