Any forum members living in Spain? I think there might be a couple?? Anyway I am biting the bullet and going to register my FZ1 on to spanish plates. Just wondering if I am going to have problems with the headlight. Is the 09 mod FZ1 headlight adjustable, or is it, as I am hoping just a flat beam??
The guy that bought my Kwacker Z1000SX said when he went to have the ITV (Spanish MOT)done it took all of 10 minutes and they never even looked at the lights so I am hoping they are as efficient when it comes to doing my bike.

Hiya fella,
To my knowledge, all bikes have flat central beams with no bias which would make sense. To me you shouldn't have any problems.
Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.

Thanks for the reply, keeping my fingers crossed as it is costing a fortune to re register

May be cheaper to buy a Spanish FZ1s crashed bike and then use the plates.later change the chassis number

Well took the FZ1 for the spanish version of the MOT (ITV) cost €93.00, really pissed off it failed on the dip beam headlights, so Frosties would appear all bikes do not have flat central bias beam, not having a go mate. I was surprised as well.
It is only €10.00 for the retest. What is really pissing me off is a new unit is €400.00+. I have been told by a Yamaha dealer the headlight is fixed and cannot be adjusted?
Anybody out there confirm this? Would it be possible to swop over the reflectors ?

Could you buy used from any country that drives on the wrong side of the road.
Yea I could but trying to source one and language barriers would be a problem

Ahhhhh crap Lew, sorry fella! >: Honestly thought that all bikes had a flat beam.
Would there be any mileage in adjusting the beam down so that it projects say only 6 foot in front of bike - no dazzle that way and as far as I know there is no guidance as to how far a headlight beam should project.

It is the reflectors which are different.
If you could locate a crashed broken headlight in the Spanish breakers with the reflectors intact you could swap them out.
I thought about that but I have been told it is not possible as the Lens and reflectors are sealed units. I have had a look and it certainly would appear to be so.
Having to bite the bullet and bike is at the local Yam dealers getting sorted. I could have ordered from the Ebay USA for $188.00 dam sight less than here in Spain but then I have to pay import duty. I have to get this done and dusted as they only give you 10 days to rectify a recorded failure on the ITV(MOT) failing that it will be another €100.00 for retest.
All I can say is thank feck I can buy ltr bottles of beer for 65cents and a bottle of gin for €9.99. At least I can afford to drown my sorrows.
So if anyone is looking for a headlights for their FZ1 I will be putting on UK Ebay in a week or so.
Should have said feck putting on spanish plates and if the Guadia Civil had wanted to pull me for it just open the FZ1 up and let them catch me. The cars and bikes they run around in are that knackered chances are they would not even chase you lol.
