Mine has had some kind of mod. The centre intake tube that extends down into the airfilter has been cut away on the engine side. I suppose the thinking is a more direct, undisturbed airflow/suck.

Will have to check if mines been done - does it actually make a difference?

I presume its a similar mod that was on TDMs to prevent a flap restricting the air box below certain revs?

What does the mod do actually do? My bike is standard except for an end  can, does the mod work best with a power commander?

It is to make sure there is no restriction on the air supply which may have been purposely built in to aquire the neccessary emmisions needed to import the bikes into europe.

It also sounds awesome , growling when you open it up, a real nice induction growl.

Thats quite a change in inlet size, will definitely check mine out soon as I need to strip her down a bit to wire in some accessory points and give the TB's a balance while I'm at it  Smile
