Fazer maintenance video tutorials on youtube
#1
Just a suggestion/request really.

Something I and Im sure many other foccers would find really helpful would be video tutorials of the various maintenance/repairs/part replacements etc carried out on the fazer. There are many videos on youtube of, for instance, bleeding brakes and changing brake fluid and whilst the process is generally the same, it would be great to see these operations performed on the fazer itself rather than any other bike and then be able to copy the procedure exactly.

If anyone has the time or inclination to share their knowledge by filming themselves or taking photos as they do any kind of maintenance, repair or upgrades on their bikes then Im sure it would be greatly appreciated by many folks.

Perhaps a section could be created on the site where we could post links to the video tutorials we create.

Anyway, its just a thought. Safe riding foccers. Comment and feedback. Smile

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

Sounds like a good idea. Planning to replace air and oil this weekend actually. Could have a bash at videoing the whole lark. However it'll be my first attempt at an oil change, so probably need a lot of cutting. Not that I expect it to be particularly difficult or different from other bikes.

I have taken numerous photos of previous jobs I've done and stuck them on my blog. In some ways this is better, as they'll be higher res, you can add big arrows and stuff and generally a bit easier to refer to mid way through a job. Rather than scrubbing a video back and too and trying to freeze a on blurry frame.

Fitting FZS1000 Blue Spot rear caliper on FZS600.
Fitting new downpipes on Fazer.

There's already a good video floating around covering balancing carbs on the Fazer.

oil drain plug is in such a stupid place on the fazer, easy to get to but points out the side so covers the frame with the initial surge of oil. Might want to put something between the engine and frame to direct the oil down into the catch tray  Wink

Thanks Chris, good tip that, I'll remember that one.

Just twigged, errm don't we already have an Articles section with posts covering key maintenance stuff here:

Also, FWIW, here is a good guide on how to clean up the blue spot brakes on Fazer's (and other Yammy's):-

Cut down plastic milk bottles work well - 1 litre jobs are good.

Those are my principles...if you don't like them I have others.

Favourite line in this: "and some smokes if you want to do a proper job"  :lol

So here's my quick video on how to swap out the air filter. My first attempt at a guide type video, don't laugh too much!

Replacing Air Filter FZS600

Didn't video the oil change, it quickly became clear my digital camera is not the best for this, it only shoots 640x480 and has just a 512Mb memstick, kept running out of space every 5 mins! (I deliberately keep a small stick in it, to force myself to empty it of photos regularly).

Fantastic work mate. Thats exactly what I envisioned. Be good if the mod bods could set up a section for the video links to the posted in, thus keeping them all together and easy to access.
