I saw him live once. He never told a joke but everyone was in stitches. Sas loss and scary when people younger than me die.

"But why are the kids crying?" And the kids will say, "Haven't you heard? Rick is dead! The People's Poet is dead!"
And then one particularly sensitive and articulate teenager will say, "Why kids, do you understand nothing? How can Rick be dead when we still have his poems?"
Some say...

I went to see him and Ade do Bottom live, it was ace.

When I tried to remember though, I'd have placed the year about 2002, but apparently he had a quad bike accident that left him injured in 1998? Is this right? I'm sure it wouldn't have been any earlier than 2000 at least when I went to see him.

Typical of his humour;

Mayall was left seriously ill after a quad bike accident at his farm in Devon in 1998 which left him in a coma for several days, but was working until recently.

Last year the father-of-three joked about the incident in a typically outspoken manner with The Daily Mirror: “I beat Jesus Christ. He was dead for three days at Easter.

"When I crashed it was the day before Good Friday, Crap Thursday, and I was technically dead until Easter Monday - that’s five days.

“Jesus was nailed up on Friday and came to on Easter day. I beat him 5-3.”

‘And now he’s died for real. Without me. Selfish b*****d.’  :lol

If any of you Rik fans have never seen "HOTEL PARADISO" then make sure you get hold of a copy.

I watched it again the other night and have honestly never laughed so hard.

As usual its a shit plot but the slapstick is priceless.
I used to not give a foc, then I discovered Red Bull and now I don't give a flying foc !!!

I remember Ade Edmonson on a chat show just after Rik Mayalls quad bike accident. His comment,
"When I heard about Rik's accident, I laughed. For a very long time!"
Comedy genius the pair of them. RIP Rik.
