FZ1 & FZ6 s2
#1
Spoilt bastard that I am, I have an 09 FZ1S and an FZ6 S2 2010 mod (2013 first reg)
I have been riding the FZ1 mostly since I got her down from Scotland end of April. The wee fazer has been lovingly looked after and kept spotlessly clean, but not ridden.
Anyway decided to give her a run out today mainly to ask the dealer to book it in for its first annual service , just to keep it in line so the warranty remains valid.
Obviously first thing I noticed was how much down on power the 6 is compared to big brother. Hit the twisties and the wee 6 came into her own. Just so much easier to flick around than big boy. Maybe the ideal bike around here would be the FZ8? or maybe the MT 09? Um!!! both my bikes have for.s and againsts.

Oh servcing costs here in Spain €130.00 for first annual / 10,000 kms happy with that includes oils & filters etc!

Im going with this...the thou is defo a learning experience....never been so fast before but at the same time it demands more respect & it becomes more technical to fire into corners.....im gonna drop the yokes & see what difference it makes...did it on the 600 even though it turns in maybe even a little too quickly.

Oh I am not frightened of the big fellas power , my previous two bikes have 1000 cc, Honda CBF 1000 GT and the Z1000SX.
The Honda had less get up and go than the 6 and head to head I reckon there is nothing to choose between the SX v FZ1 the Yamaha is lighter than the SX and handles better. Will have a play with the forks though. I assume by lowering the Yoke it will help the bike to turn ih a bit quicker. I have tweeked the rebound already and the rear shock which seems to improved the handling a bit.

Yeh lew i was more talking about myself rather than you there...i know you gad a few bikes...those sx get good reviews still.

But i think you're right these MT's are maybe the best of both worlds....but there will always be a trade off.....only time will tell what that trade off is really so i await a couple more years of bike developments & the true outcome of the MT range.
