Hi all , any help will be very much appreciated , gonna do the front and rear caliper seals on my fazer , front seals came through fleabay , seller stated nikone ones but when i got them through , both sets for the front callipers were the required 30 and 27 mm but one set of dust and inner is 2mm thick with an inner lip and one set is 4mm thick with no inner lip , can anyone shed any light if the thickness matters , never done the seals before on my bike so dont wanna start getting them stripped and find out they are wrong.
Oh and any tips on doing the front master cylinder seals would be appreciated as i have the kit for that as well , brakes were shocking so put hel braided hoses on and the problem is worse so thinking seals
Thanks in advance

Have done full brake overhaul on several Fazers. Some pattern seals are OK -Nikone should be alright. Sounds like they've put some wrong size ones in your order-the thickness I mean. As you say there are two sizes of piston each side of the front calipers. The knack is to get everything scrupulously clean including the grooves where the seals sit. Use red rubber grease sparingly on seals/pistons when reassembling. This helps keep dirt & water out.
Regarding master cylinder overhaul kits-I prefer to use Yamaha OEM as I know theyre going to fit/work correctly.
When your pistons move freely against new seals and you have bled system you should have excellent braking.
Also good idea to smear copper grease sparingly on backs of brake pads. Take your time & you shouldn't have any probs!
Hi , thanks dave , i have to send the wrong set back to the supplier but not sure which ones , the 2mm with the lip or the 4mm without , any ideas or can i use both ?

When I did last brake overhaul on my FZS 600 I bought seal kits from a firm called Powerhouse- Phone 0114-235-1010 (Sheffield).
Might be worth giving them a call? Their reference for complete kit for FZS 600 (both front calipers) is150984884244
Alternatively remove one caliper ,dismantle & measure.-obviously not an option if you are using the bike daily. Hope this help or maybe some other "foccer" will know seal thickness. Dave
Get the genuine ones. You're guaranteed they'll be good quality and work
