clutch seems hard to pull
#1
Hi All,
Ever since I picked up the bike the clutch has been bugging me.  There is freeplay in the leaver, as there should be and the leaver moves fine until it gets to the biting point.
The biting point is very close to the bars and you have to apply a lot more force to the leaver to get to and past the biting point.
It feels something like the cable is too short and I have to persuade it a bit more for the final couple of mm.  I'm not saying that's the issue because I have no idea, but that's how it feels.  On my old Fazer it was a nice even pressure required to pull in the clutch and I presume the same should be on this bike.
Any ideas?

Have you tried adjusting it at the bottom end of the cable?
More people are born because of alcohol than will ever die from it.

try oiling the cable, it might have got a bit gritty/gunged up in there. Might be making the wire stick and not slide inside the sheath properly.

Sounds like it needs adjusting too if it's biting too close to the bars, Like darrsi said there is room for adjustment at both ends of the cable.

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

the cable might be frayed. sounds like it needs a bit of tlc anyway. like chris says give the cable and mechanism a clean and oil behind the cover and slacken the cable a bit if it's biting too late
